An attempt by Lake Horowhenua advocate Philip Taueki in the Supreme Court to overturn an assault conviction could lead to a landmark ruling on how one of New Zealand's most polluted waterways can be used by the public. The hearing by the Supreme Court started yesterday, with Taueki's lawyer arguing that the "minor technical assault" was justified. In September 2008 Taueki was found to have assaulted a father and son, Tony and David Brown of the Horowhenua Sailing Club, who were attempting to launch a motorboat on the lake....
